Important Crop Insurance Dates For the Second Half of 2022

Important Crop Insurance Dates For the Second Half of 2022

We are onto the second half of 2022. Below are upcoming dates to keep in mind for crop insurance for the rest of the year.

July 1, 2022 - Sales closing date to purchase wind and green snap endorsement on crop hail policies. Hail is one peril that can decimate a portion of your field and leave the rest undamaged. This can provide protection on a per-acre basis.

July 15, 2022 - Final acreage reporting date for all spring planted crops with multi-peril insurance coverage. Please see your FSA office first to report these crops. Then bring in your FSA 578s and colored field maps to SFB's office. You can also have your FSA office email those papers to our office. Please send them to mchilson@sfbank.com.

July 31, 2022 - Sales closing date for fall-seeded forage seeding policies.

August 15, 2022 - Cash discount deadline for crop-hail policies.

August 15, 2022 - Multi-peril crop insurance billing date.

October 1, 2022 - Premium due on crop-hail, if not paid for by cash discount deadline.

October 15 or November 1, 2022 - Wind coverage expires on field corn depending on your specific policy.

December 10, 2022 - Multi-peril coverage expires on spring crops on this date or the date those crops or harvested, whichever date is earlier.

Reminders:

1) Claims are due within 72 hours of suspected damage.

2) Call SFB for a corn crop appraisal if you plan to chop corn silage or harvest corn for hi-moisture a few days prior to those activities.
